You need to create a directory for the vault, and within that a
directory dirvish with a default.conf file. Then initialize it with
dirvish --init --vault whatever

I don't think it matters much nowadays. I usually leave things on as I'm
too lazy to switch them off or too impatient to wait for them to start
up :)
