Well... I had a 8506-8 running for several years in a backup server. Configured as Raid-5 and plugged into a simple 33MHz PCI slot, and not the 
desired 66MHz 64bit wide one. Granted, the transfer rates were not anywhere near the raw disk speed, but 11MB/s is definitely waaay too slow for this 
controller.
