[Dirvish] dirvish-expire loses on 'summary' directory

Not a problem, because dirvish-expire stops at the directory called
"tree"; files or directories below that "tree" called "summary" will
never be detected by dirvish-expire.

You mean the "tree" directory? :-(

I use a config line:

image-temp: latest

and then I just have to make available via samba the
/bank/vault/latest/tree/ directory, works fine.

It doesn't, unless you trick it to think it's not inside an image
directory... another reason why it's useful to use a separate directory
for your dirvish bank.

Nowhere is specified that a vault name can't contain slashes.
